*All knives come with a custom leather sheath.
What makes a good knife maker? Is it the use of high quality materials, length of time in the field, or the passion one has for the field itself? In Don DeZarn’s case, it’s all of those. Don uses all materials for the handles including moose horn, mammoth ivory, and various types of wood, which include his favorite, desert ironwood. He has been making knives for the last 10 years and apprenticed under his adopted father, Robert Ball. Don’s love of art extends his skills to scrimshawing and carving various designs into handles. Along with every knife built from the ground up, Don makes a custom leather sheath to fit each one perfectly. All of his knives are made here in Northern Knives with a shop fully equipped to make folders and fixed blades. Word of such talent spread so far, that while “On Frozen Grounds” was being filmed up here, Nicolas Cage found himself in the shop discussing a one-of-a-kind custom knife with him. He used a titanium frame, American flag/mosaic high carbon Damascus blade steel, mammoth ivory for the handle, engraved titanium bolsters, and gold plated screws. To sum it all up, Don makes one hell of a knife.
